Indian Government to Offer Financial Aid for Coastal Recycling Units with Waste Management Companies in India
The Indian government is giving a one-time finance for the coastal recycling units of plastic waste and discarded fishing gear. The units will be installed in specified places such as beaches, harbors and tourist places. As part of this effort, 25 recycling units are going to be set up on 12 Indian Blue Flag beaches. The funding will cover the costs of machinery and equipment, including ₹38 lakh for setting up the first unit to turn plastic waste into products and ₹48 lakh for a unit to make fishing gear using nylon. Money from the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) and environmental funds of the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) will be given to registered fishermen’s societies.
Stepwise procedure for approval of funding
Applicants must provide documentation proof of land possession and financial records to apply and make payment. Approval will be given in four stages, allowing enhanced oversight and effective utilization of funds for the benefit of waste management companies of India.
